My standing full!!

Arabian through to double full!(:

A Poem That Made Me Realize How Special My Daddy Is To Me!

Daddy's Poem

Her hair was up in a pony tail, her favorite dress tied with a bow. Today was Daddy's Day at school, and she couldn't wait to go.
But her mommy tried to tell her, that she probably should stay home. Why the kids might not understand, if she went to school alone.
But she was not afraid; she knew just what to say. What to tell her classmates of why he wasn't there today.
But still her mother worried, for her to face this day alone. And that was why once again, she tried to keep her daughter home.
But the little girl went to school eager to tell them all.About a dad she never sees a dad who never calls.
There were daddies along the wall in back, for everyone to meet. Children squirming impatiently, anxious in their seats
One by one the teacher called a student from the class. To introduce their daddy, as seconds slowly passed.
At last the teacher called her name, every child turned to stare. Each of them was searching, a man who wasn't there.
"Where's her daddy at?" she heard a boy call out. "She probably doesn't have one," another student dared to shout.
And from somewhere near the back,
she heard a daddy say, "Looks like another deadbeat dad, too busy to waste his day."
The words did not offend her, as she smiled up at her Mom. And looked back at her teacher, who told her to go on.
And with hands behind her back, slowly she began to speak. And out from the mouth of a child, came words incredibly unique.
"My Daddy couldn't be here, because he lives so far away. But I know he wishes he could be, since this is such a special day. And though you cannot meet him, I wanted you to know. All about my daddy, and how much he loves me so.
He loved to tell me stories he taught me to ride my bike.
He surprised me with pink roses, and taught me to fly a kite.
We used to share fudge sundaes, and ice cream in a cone. And though you cannot see him. I'm not standing here alone.
"Cause my daddy's always with me, even though we are apart I know because he told me, he'll forever be in my heart"
With that, her little hand reached up, and lay across her chest. Feeling her own heartbeat, beneath her favorite dress.
And from somewhere here in the crowd of dads, her mother stood in tears. Proudly watching her daughter, who was wise beyond her years.
For she stood up for the love
of a man not in her life. Doing what was best for her, doing what was right.
And when she dropped her hand back down, staring straight into the crowd. She finished with a voice so soft, but its message clear and loud.
"I love my daddy very much, he's my shining star. And if he could, he'd be here, but heaven's just too far. You see he was a policeman and died just this past year When airplanes hit the towers and taught Americans to fear.
But sometimes when I close my eyes, it's like he never went away." And then she closed her eyes, and saw him there that day.
And to her mothers amazement, she witnessed with surprise.
A room full of daddies and children, all starting to close their eyes.
Who knows what they saw before them, who knows what they felt inside. Perhaps for merely a second, they saw him at her side.
"I know you're with me Daddy," to the silence she called out. And what happened next made believers, of those once filled with doubt.
Not one in that room could explain it, for each of their eyes had been closed. But there on the desk beside her, was a fragrant long-stemmed pink rose.
And a child was blessed, if only for a moment, by the love of her shining star. And given the gift of believing, that heaven is never too far.
They say it takes a minute to find a special person, an hour to appreciate them, a day to love them, but then
an entire life to forget them.

10 Minute Focused Writing!

I have cheer again tonight. We have one of the biggest cheerleading competitions next Friday. The competition starts on Friday which is when the individuals go, and Saturday and Sunday is when the teams go. The competition is located in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Before I go to that competition I am trying to perfect all of my skills. Last week I started throwing my standing full, which is a back flip with a 360 spin in it starting form standing still on the ground. Although, it got put into my cheerleading routine very quickly I know that God will give me the strength to land it. A standing full is very hard, especially for a girl! So tonight at cheer practice I will be throwing my standing full. I know that my team will believe in me and I have the confidence to throw this skill. Cheerleading is nothing but having confidence, they say that cheerleading is 90% mental power and 10% physical power. In my mind I have the confidence to land this skill!

" 'A' is for Alibi"

In Sue Grafton’s book “ ‘A’ is for Alibi”, Nikki the mother of a deaf son and a woman prosecuted with murder, tries to be proven innocent with the help of an investigator Kinsey Millhone.  When the deaf son Colin starts to be questioned, its brilliant the way Sue Grafton adds this suspense into the turning point of the story.
Kinsey MIllhone comes over to Nikki’s house after getting home from investigating in LA.  Colin is going through a photo album while Kinsey and Nikki talk about the murder investigation.  In this album Colin comes across a photo in which he keeps exclaiming that his dad Laurence’s ex spouse is his Nana.  But when Nikki mentions that his Nana died when he was one, how could it be possible that he remembers her?

Kinsey finds this very odd. So after she thinks about this incident for a few days she went back to NIkki’s house and had her ask Colin some questions.  At first Nikki wouldn’t cooperate, until she knew that to be proven innocent she would have to.  Colin was very shy around Kinsey, but once Nikki told him everything would be okay Colin lightened up.

Reading Response for "The Scarlet Ibis"

The Scarlet Ibis

In the short story “The Scarlet Ibis” it is telling about two brothers. The younger brother named Doodle is the type of person that nobody believed would do anything. The older brother is always trying to help Doodle. Although Brother is helping Doodle, Brother is doing it to benefit himself and not Doodle. At the end Doodle finds a dying scarlet ibis and after watching Doodle care for the delicate animal, Brother realizes that Doodle is his scarlet ibis.
A scarlet ibis is a beautiful bird. Although everyone might not see it, but those that can know it is an amazing sight! “Beauty is how you feel inside, and it reflects in your eyes. It is not something physical.” This quote relates Doodle to the scarlet ibis so much. The way nobody thought Doodle was beautiful or what they considered ‘normal’, but when the family found the scarlet ibis only Doodle saw the real beauty.
Brother in this story was always trying to make Doodle more like him or ‘normal.’ After Brother watches Doodle burry the scarlet ibis, and the Brother takes Doodle to practice being more ‘normal.’ Pushing to make Doodle better, Brother runs ahead, “Brother, Brother, don’t leave me! Don’t leave me!” James Hurst writes. When reading this I know that Brother doesn’t realize until Doodle isn’t catching up. Brother goes back only to face the worst, his scarlet ibis Doodle has fallen.
This story symbolizes the color res so much. Red is the color of love. The love between Doodle and Brother is so magical. The love in this story I can relate to my family. My sister and I aren’t that close but when it comes down to it I would do anything for her and she would do the same for me! That’s how we know in our hearts we love each other.
Have you ever tried to change somebody, for your benefit? Because in the long run if you have just think about why you did or tried. God made everyone unique for a reason. Now think about this story, do you have a scarlet ibis?

3 of my Favorite Quotes!!

"Cheer as hard as you can, be the best you can at what you do because remember if you don't think you're good there's always a little girl looking up to you thinking she wants to be like you." -Michelle
- I like this quote because I love to be an inspiration. When I feel like something went bad or looked bad but that little girl or boy comes up to me and says that was amazing, I get all warm and cozy inside.

"A true friend is one who thinks you are a good egg even if you are half-cracked." -Unknown
- This quote feels as if when I read it its talking to me about my relationships with my friends. It's just a perfect explanation!

"I hope life isn't a big joke, because I don't get it." -Jack Handey
- I like this quote because I always want to take life as a joke but in reality, though life is short its serious. I also like this quote because its funny, plus I don't get a lot of jokes so it sounds like me!
