Cheerleading Worlds!

Yesterday, we had our last International Coed level 5 cheerleading team practice. Level 5 is the highest skill rank in cheerleading. This week we will be leaving on Thursday to Orlando, FL for the Cheerleading Worlds! Only the best of the best teams in the USA are invited to go to this wonderful competition! There are 9 different divisions: Large All-girl 5, Small All-girl 5, Unlimited Coed 5, Large Limited Coed 5, Small Limited Coed 5, International Coed 5, and International Coed 6, International All-girl 5, and International All-girl 6.  Large teams consist of 36 people, Small teams consist of 20 people, and International teams consist of 24 people. It will be my first time ever going to this competition!

To be on this team you have to be 14 and you can go up to age 80! Our team is representing some of the best 24 athletes on the East coast of NC! We will be competing against 41 other American teams! We will be competing Saturday morning for Pre-liminaries, then if we place high enough we will compete Saturday night at the Semi-finals. Only the top 10 American teams will compete at the Semi-finals. After Semi-finals there are Finals on Sunday! At the Finals only the top 3 American teams will be competing. The top 3 American teams will be competing against the top 3 teams of all the different countries in the World! I have found a team from Dublin, Ireland that will be competing Sunday. These athletes are the best 24 Athletes in Ireland! I have asked to trade cheerleading shirts with one of their team members! In cheerleading when you trade shirts with another team, is almost how you make friends! It is so cool to have another team shirt in cheerleading! Wish us luck and these are some of the best teams in their division!

My favorite Large Senior All-girl 5 team, this team has so much talent and they amaze me every time I see them compete! They cheer for a gym called Maryland Twisters and their team name is F5.

This team is California's Small Senior All-girl 5. They do not have a team name but they are from the gym California All-stars, their mascot is the Bullets. This team is so fun to watch. They always bring on a great show at our competitions!

Cheer Extreme is a cheerleading program form Kernersville, NC. These athletes are so talented I love to watch them at cheer competitions! They do not have a team name either.

Rockstar All-stars are a fairly new cheerleading program. This program has been around for less than 5 years. They have grown into such a wonderful program! They will be around for a long time!

Platinum Athletics is a gym from the St. Louis area. They know how to train their athletes. They always do good at the cheer competitions they go to.

This program is known for their themed routines. They have been around for almost 20 years. they have had so much talent throughout the years and they keep gaining talent. They know how to train their kids to be the best they can be!

This gym has got some talented athletes on their team. This gym has not been around for a very long time. Although they are not a well known gym, they have talent. Their cheerleaders know how to bring it!

This is my first time ever hearing about this gym. Although they, have some amazing athletes. This is one of the many teams that my team will be competing against in the 2011 Worlds!

Top Gun All Stars has always been a successful cheerleading program. This cheerleading program has raised some of the best athletes on the East Coast. This gym started over 15 years ago and has been going strong ever since! In the competition arenas you are lucky if you can see them compete, everyone is standing on chairs to see this wonderful team!

My Senior Open 5 Cheerleading Team! Our Last Competition! :(

My Poems!

She tumbles
At the soundless sun fall
This whimsical cheerleader
Brought up only by
Love and accomplishment
Like a
Delicate caterpillar
In it's cocoon
Like a
Beautiful butterfly
In the spring air
Floating

He glides
On the towering waves
This passionate surfer
Intoxicated by
White foam and salty blue waters
Like a
Silky dolphin
At a summer's dusk
Like a
Silky dolphin
In the sun's blaze
Soaring

She drifts
In the timeless motion
This graceful ballerina
Threatened by
Remorse and challenges
Like a
Heartless clock
In the shadowed room
Like a
Dying clock
Losing it's rhythmic beat
Forever

Revised Interview!

An Interview with Allison Dunlap, my inspiration!
Me: What is the most important message or belief that you hope I will take with me and remember throughout my entire life?”
Allison: The most important message that I hope you take with you through life is to always try your hardest and never let anyone get in the way of your dreams.  There are going to be many times where you feel like you want to give up and feel like you aren’t good enough, but keep pushing forward and never turn in the other direction.  Love yourself, be confident and learn to dig deep when times are hard.
Me: How have you followed this advice in your life?  What difference has this belief and/or message made in your life?
Allison: As stated above there have been many times where people have told me that I wasn’t good enough, people that have wanted to see me quit, or even make fun of my attempts.  One thing I never did was give up.  Even though I really wanted to quit or give into their attempts I would not allow myself to not try.  Every circumstance in which this has happened, I have achieved and even come out on top.
Me: Can you remember a certain experience where you followed this message?
Allison: Yes.  I was about 19 years old when I was asked to step into a promoted position in a company to fill in for someone who couldn’t be there.  While stepping into this position I was to manage several people who were older than I was.  When they found out I was stepping into the head position the older instructors became disgruntled and upset with me.  They talked about me behind my back and rolled their eyes when I gave instruction.  The first night I came home and cried and then realized that my superior would not have put me into this position if he didn’t trust that I could do the job, so I dried my tears and went in the next day with confidence.   I had a long talk with my staff and lead them better than they ever have been lead.  Once it was all said and done I ended up keeping my head position and kept it until I left the company.
Me: Has there ever been a time where you have seen me follow this message?
Allison: Yes.  A year ago I was the most proud of you when you threw your hardest passes at competition.  You weren’t just out to win you were throwing them because you wanted to do the best you could do.  Even though others encouraged you to throw easier passes to try and win, you went for your personal best.  You ended up getting the best placement you ever received.  I was so proud of you and happy in that moment because you were rewarded for giving it your best.
Me: How will this message help me throughout life?
Allison: This message is so important because it will shape the outcome of so many decisions in your life.  In college there will times where you feel like you can’t give anymore and you want to give up but the ability to keep pushing forward will get you through.
